Driver Mentoring Tasmania

President Barry Titmus welcomed Garry O’Byrne, the State Co-ordinator of DMT (Driver Mentoring Tasmania) to our meeting last week. DMT offer driving experience, under volunteer supervision, to help Learner Drivers having difficulty accessing a vehicle or supervisory driver to gain their 50 hours of driving on their way to gaining their provisional licence.  Programs are run all over the State, and DMT works side by side with Road Safety programs such as Rotary’s own RYDA.  Although some funding is provided by the State Government, Mentors are desperately needed as there is a long waiting list of learner drivers needing assistance.
