Rotary Against Malaria (RAM)

Dr Jenny Kerrison with Club members

The Rotary Club of Moonah warmly welcomed Dr Jenny Kerrison, National Manager of RAM (Rotarians Against Malaria) who joined us to give an update on the Rotary Global Grant project for Timor Leste. This Grant has been made possible through multi district donations from 15 of 21 Districts and 15 Rotary Clubs in Australia. The eighteen month project commenced in December 2018 and is jointly managed by the Rotary Club of North Hobart (D9830) and RAM. Key Grant activities have been 40,000 long lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) for pregnant women, and 80 Hudson Sprayers for indoor residual spraying. These donations are distributed for use throughout Timor Leste. The Grant also includes important training  programs for community volunteers, midwives and Rotarians. The next step is to take the program into West Timor for cross-border elimination. Our Club was pleased to present Jenny with a $5oo donation to assist with the ongoing work to eradicate Malaria, which kills one child under five every two minutes.
