2011 Boat Cruise

A grey, drizzly morning turned into a magnificent day on the river when about 160 people turned up at the Lindisfarne Marina to head off “Up The River” to New Norfolk.

11 boats and around 160 people enjoyed a calm, scenic day with great weather, great company, and lots of food.

I believe some people even had a few drinks!

Highlights of the trip were the stunning views of Mt. Wellington, stopping the traffic at the Bridgewater bridge, and the river views as the fleet followed the twists and turns of the River Derwent heading up to New Norfolk, where we rafted up to the jetty for lunch.

A few hardy souls even jumped in for a swim in the icy waters of the Derwent!

The Rotary Club of Moonah wishes to thank the boat owners and crew who generously donated their time, fuel, and the use of their boats.
We also thank our sponsors, who provided food, drink, and the many other essential items. (I’ll ask Caroline to provide more details of these generous people and businesses)

Thanks also to those who took part on the day, and contributing to the funds that Rotary uses to improve the lives of disadvantaged people in so many ways.
