Moonah is known as the FUN club that achieves EXTRAORDINARY things…….
For All Potential Club Members……
What you need to know about becoming a member of Moonah Rotary…..
Please contact our membership chair for specific information on becoming a member

What steps do you need to take in order to be considered for membership in the Rotary Club of Moonah ???
* Firstly – We recommend that you contact the current MEMBERSHIP CHAIR listed above. They will organise a casual meeting where you can discuss membership requirements for our club. At that meeting they will give you one of our innovative “Prospective New Member Pack’s”. This package has all the information you will need in order to make an informed decision one way or another.
You should also spend some time on our website looking at what we as a club participate in. Then……
* Normally you would then choose to come along to a TUESDAY lunch meeting on a day that suits you & after lunch at a time that suits you both – you can get together with the membership chair again & ask any other questions that may have arisen after attending the first meeting. (You will be invited to come along to TWO meetings at no cost to you, then we ask you for a commitment one way or another.)
*At this time if you want to commit to becoming a member in our club – your name & details would be presented to the club board members for approval, or not as the case may be. If you are accepted by our board members – the next step is your name goes to the members - they are given the opportunity to accept you, or as the case may be decline you, as a member. (This part of the process normally takes around one to two weeks).
* You NEED to be prepared to complete a police check as a condition of membership into our club (It is kept confidential & no one in the club sees the results. We are told by a district officer if you have passed – that is all). You will then get a copy of the police check sent to your nominated address for your records.
To DOWNLOAD a copy of the POLICE CHECK FORM please go to the district website (www.rotarytasmania.org.au) then go to “DOWNLOAD” tab, then scroll down to the “Download forms” section, then scroll down to the “updated” Police Check Form on the list. The club pays for the police check to be completed – not you. The cost to the club as a volunteer organisation is only $5.00

What CODE do all ROTARIANS operate by ?
We call it the FOUR WAY TEST:
Can you live & work using these FOUR simple guidelines in your daily endeavours ?
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned ?
3. Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS ?
4. Will it be BENIFICIAL to all concerned ?
Please understand that we don’t just accept anyone into the club
….it is considered to be a great honour to become a Rotarian.

If good manners is something that you may have trouble with – please save yourself the embarrassment & don’t bother submitting a membership enquiry to our mixed gender club….
The BIG QUESTION you need to ask yourself is……
“DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE TO THE WORLD…???”
If the answer is Yes, then becoming a Rotarian might be the answer for you.
Each member gives WHAT they can WHEN they can !!
Yearly membership fees if you are accepted by our club as a member are $200.00. Except a tiny amount, this fee does not go to our club for fundraising - It covers the cost of your monthly “Rotary Down Under” (RDU) Magazine subscription that is sent to your nominated address. Most of the remaining part of the fee goes to Rotary Australia to cover admin costs associated with membership. We as a club cover the cost of your gold membership badge that you are expected to wear each week at our normal club meetings & when you are out and about at any of our club fundraising efforts.

YOUR CLUB MENTOR
Once you commit to membership & you are accepted by the club- we don’t leave you hanging – All new members are assigned a club mentor. The mentor is chosen after careful consideration of who you are & who we think can best help you through the maze of the first few weeks or months of being in a new organisation
YOUR CLUB MENTOR WILL make the commitment to you to do the following…..
* Answer your “silly” Questions
* Explain the club procedures to you
* Explain who is who & what they do
* Introduce you around the club
* Take you to your first make up meeting at another club, so you see how easy it is to do
* Explain about the various events that ROTARY hold that you can attend throughout the year around the state
* Recommend the committees that you might be best suited to – within the club (after speaking to you)
* Arrange to have coffee with you a few times to offer you a chance to informally ask questions
* Become a great friend….sometimes for life
